Claus Nissen (1938-2008) - Actor. Played "The Perfect Man" in Jørgen Leth's The Perfect Human, which was featured in and updated for Leth and Lars von Trier's documentary The Five Obstructions. He also played the character "Jensen" in von Trier's miniseries The Kingdom and The Kingdom II and appears in Susanne Bier's Family Matters, Bernard Girard's The Happiness Cage, Erik Balling's Olsen Gang series and Leth's Notes on Love and Good and Evil. He died April 29. (Danske Film)
- Carl Belfour (1952-2008) - Chief projectionist for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He died of a brain aneurysm April 23, in Los Angeles. (Variety)
- Nino Candido (1942-2008) - Property master and actor. Worked on Bull Durham, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Smile, Timescape, Night Game and TV's My Name is Earl. He appears in Hud and I Come in Peace. He died April 26, in Laughlin, Nevada. (IATSE Local 44)
- Richard De Roy (c.1931-2008) - Screenwriter. Wrote mostly for television but also scripted Robert Wise's Two People, which starred Peter Fonda, the 1956 British comedy The Baby and the Battleship and Richard Donner's animated short Philbert (Three's a Crowd). He died March 8 in Los Angeles. (Variety)
- Terry Duggan (?-2008) - Actor. Played an ape who is attacked by a leopard in Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, for which he also worked as an animal wrangler. He also appears in Ken Loach's Poor Cow, Riff-Raff and Family Life, Hettie Macdonald's Beautiful Thing and Bob Clark's Murder by Decree. He died May 1 in England. (Green Room)
- Frédéric Fajardie (1947-2008) - Novelist and screenwriter. With the actor Alain Delon and filmmaker José Pinheiro, he co-scripted Pinheiro's Parole de Flic (Cop's Honor) and Ne Réveillez Pas un Flic Qui Dort (Let Sleeping Cops Lie), which was based on his own novel, Clause de Style. He also co-scripted Pinheiro's La Femme Fardée and Robert Enrico's Vent d'Est (East Wind), which starred Malcolm McDowell. He died of cancer May 1, in Paris. (France 2)
- David Gilbert (1929-2008) - Voice actor and writer. His voice can be heard in Schindler's List, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, All the President's Men, The Bridges of Madison County, JFK and Kramer vs. Kramer. He died of complications from diabetes and congestive heart failure April 13, in Atlanta. (Variety)
- Fred Haines (1936-2008) - Screenwriter. Oscar-nominated for his adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysses, which was directed by Joseph Strick and on which he served as an associate producer. He also scripted and directed an adaptation of Herman Hesse's Steppenwolf. He died May 4 in Venice, California. (Independent)
- Douglas Hayward (1934-2008) - Tailor. Suited Michael Caine in The Italian Job, Noel Coward in Boom and Peter Lawford in One More Time and Salt and Pepper. He also changed the look of Roger Moore's 007 in the 1980s and is said to have been the inspiration for Alfie and The Tailor of Panama. He died from neurological disease April 26, in London. - Mona Hinton (1919-2008) - Widow of jazz bassist Milt Hinton. Appears in the Oscar nominated documentary A Great Day in Harlem and the doc Texas Tenor: The Illinois Jacquet Story. She also shot original 8mm home movie footage that ended up in A Great Day in Harlem. She died May 3 in Long Island. (Jazz Times)
- Luigi Malerba (1927-2008) - Screenwriter. Co-wrote a number of the segments of the 1953 Italian anthology film Love in the City, including the one directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. He also co-scripted a number of films by Alberto Lattuada, Pasquale Festa Campanile and Fabio Carpi. He died May 8 in Rome. (Euro Topics)
- William 'Billy' Mancini Jr. (c.1965-2008) - Production and finance executive. As Sr. VP of motion picture and TV production at Krost/Chapin Management he worked on What's Love Got to Do With It and as VP of creative affairs at Orr and Cruickshank Productions he worked on Father of the Bride, Mr. Destiny and Sister Act II. He was also a creative exec at Columbia Pictures Television and Silver Street Pictures. He died of liver cancer April 9, in Rome. (Variety)
- Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager (1917-2008) - German military officer. As a part of Operation Valkyrie, the secret plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, he partly inspired Bryan Singer's upcoming film Valkyrie. He was recently interviewed for a History Channel special produced by Singer to coincide with the release of the film. He died May 1 in Berlin. (NY Times)
