21. I always watch the credits and I stay until the the Rating appears. I do this for many reasons. The first, is that 75% of the people who work on films are not on screen, thus I respect them enough to stay through their names. Second, I love movies and film making, you can learn a lot about a film from the credits, where it was shot, if there were doubles, who had an assistant or how many make-up artists etc. Third, the credits are a part of the movie and I want to experience the whole movie. You don't get the complete movie going experience without the credits.

22. I always stay for the credits. Sometimes it is for the cast. Sometimes it is for a particular member of the crew, typically music related. From time to time, I am curious to see the song listings, film reference, or television clip.

Mostly, I enjoy listening to the closing music.

23. Well, I'ma big fan of films, but really don't stay too long with the credits unless there is a pressing issue in my head (Did Thomas Newman score that, who is this new director, etc). I understand that it is an act of respect, and sometimes there is a little "goodie" extra scene at the end of the movie. however, there is also the internet to go back to: imdb to find out every credit of the movie, as well as everything else these people have worked on, and Youtube to not sit through 5 minutes of a black screen with text to watch whatever ambiguous footnote is there in the movie. I've already been sitting through the 2 hours or so of movie, now its time to get the hell out of there and talk about it, grab a beer next door, etc.

24. I try and always watch the credits (most of the time, it depends on who I am with, I don't like making my friends wait if they don't want to). Personally, though, even if the movie sucked I stay for the credits. I aspire to be a filmmaker myself and I know how incredibly hard it is to make even a short film. So I stay to say thank you to the people who put in all the hard work. I think of it like this: I wouldn't leave a stage production in the middle of the curtain call. I see credits the same way.

25. I like to watch the credits to check out the cast/credit list. My friends and I play a little game - kind of like "Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon" - where we look down the cast list and see who is credited the lowest, but is still a recognizable name. That is, it has to be somebody whose name you recognize, and can name from another movie. Winner drinks free at the post-movie bar of choice...

26. I don't think it's uniquely LA. I'm in NY and there are usually a handful of people who stay for the credits, but the lights do come on after the movie ends and the staff stares at you to leave so they can clean up. It's annoying.

27. I always stick around; I've seen too many movies that have post-credits "extra" scenes.

For those who haven't seen them, the ones from the Pirates movies and from "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" are particularly amusing.

28. I always watch the credits, because you get to see the other people who've worked on the film that do not always get recognized for their contributions to some of your favorite films. You can also listen to the music throughout the credits.

29. Yes I do, although I usually get dragged out by wife. The closing credits for me-a cinephile-would be the equivalent of finding out what kind of grapes went into a fine wine. It is often those in the credits that made the success-or failure of the movie; not the po stars.

30. Just as I often look at the signature at the bottom of a paining or at the base of a sculpture, I stay to look at the credits. After all, it is as much of the film as the actuall story I've sat through.
Too, the music that often plays was put there for a specific purpose and as such, I look on it as a sort of post-overture.
To do otherwise (and no, I have no friends in the industry) is to not enjoy the whole experince of watching a movie, not to mention fully appreciate the artists, no matter of their "importance" whose names someone thought significant enough to put on the screen (union rulkes notwithstanding.

32. I always stay, and this is by no means unique to L.A. (I live in Denver, CO).

I enjoy hearing the final music over the credits, seeing what music was used in the film, what FX houses, and generally all the various jobs, people, and companies that went into making the film. I paid for that movie; I want to hear and see all of it and give it as much opportunity to impress me as possible.

And I also like seeing the MPAA number of any film that's been rated, for some reason.

33. I always sit through the credits. I figure that the people listed on screen went to a lot of time and trouble to make this movie for me, so the least I can do is watch their names go by.

34. With all due respect, Ms. Alperstein needs to get out of L.A. for a couple of days. In NYC many of us stay all the way through the "rating card" after the movie is completely finished. I've been in theaters in Boston, St. Louis, San Diego, Tampa, etc. where some of the audience stayed all the way through the end credits. It's not a "uniquely L.A. thing." There are hard-core movie fans all over.
